Finding A South Dakota RV Park

By Jerri Perry

There is nothing to compare with the fun and excitement of a vacation spent on the road. Families from all over the nation head north to enjoy some time at a South Dakota RV park. This wonderful area really does have it all. There is spectacular scenery, historic sites and family friendly activities to enjoy throughout the summer months.

The state has an amazing amount of things to see and do and this is what has made it a firm favorite for many years. From wonderfully historic towns, shopping malls and craft barns, to wide open spaces there really is something for everyone. Anyone who enjoys learning about the history of their nation should certainly plan on a visit.

It is quite easy to find out about all the parks and sites. One of the fastest ways to see what is available in a particular area is to go on line. A quick search should uncover a host of options. Practically every business now has a web site which is a great way to really get the best idea about each park.

In addition to the historic and cultural sites there are also endless opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. The northern plains have a wonderful diversity of landscape, ranging from the mystical Black Hills to the wide open grass lands. There are miles of hiking and biking trails designed for all ages and abilities. Even the youngest children will be able to tackle some of the easy trails, whilst advanced hikers are going to be very happy with the more challenging paths.

Families might also be looking for a well constructed play area to keep the kids busy. This is also a great opportunity for the kids to meet other children their own age. Some wonderful friendships are made every summer between children from all over the states and even beyond that.

Evenings on the site will often include a camp fire. This is one of the most enjoyable and traditional aspects of camping. Gathering around the flames with family and friends is one of the most special moments of the entire vacation. Some parks allow each individual camper to have their own small fires, whilst others only allow larger fires in specially designated areas. It is always important to check on the site rules.

Many of the bigger parks are like a small self contained resort. They have a store to buy all the necessary groceries, from staples like milk and bread, to fish fillets and steaks. There will also be a restaurant catering to all tastes. This will typically include pizza and chicken nuggets for the kids to gourmet meals for the grown ups.

Staying at a South Dakota RV park is the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the northern plains. Every age group has something special to enjoy. This ranges from visiting historic sites to hiking the trails.
