"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. " | Socrates
One of the best most challenging journeys you will ever go on is seeing what your body is able to do. Perhaps you are in shape, totally out of shape, or merely hoping to lose some weight. However, developing a body that you really can be proud, one that is healthy, and lets you really adore each last tiny inch of it really is a wonderful journey to travel down.
So what is the key to making an enduring change with your body?
Consistency and commitment.
There's nothing else like coming to the table every day and giving it your best shot. Your best effort must be yours and yours alone. Don't start comparing your journey to other journeys or else you will become deeply discouraged and discouraged. Instead, really try and understand you're competing with yourself and yourself alone. Will there be times on your journey where you try and fail? Yes, many times. But each time you do, you need to come back with a commitment to achieving something you really wanted. Consistency will keep you in the game and on the field each and every day. Without it, you'll suffer the the unavoidable reality of many new years resolutioners who give up each single year on developing the body of their dreams because they do not have the ability to keep on coming back repeatedly timeand again.
Commitment also suggests itself, but not the commitment you're likely thinking of in this case. In our world, we are fed this strong idea that everything must take place right now and if it does not actually happen right now, it's not worth it at all. Your body is going to change acrossthe years, so why don't you try and make a lifetime dedication to staying healthy? Is that a marketable and packageable idea? Not particularly. But is it something that might truly change the course of your life? Definitely.
When you make a pledge to keeping your body healthy all throughout your entire life, you may ultimately reach whatever goal you wish. It is all about seeing the bigger picture than simply the few months in front of you until the summer. It's about developing something you can be proud of for ever and ever. For me, that idea changed my life as I was able to eventually hit my health goals after 12 years of wrestling with my body image and food issues. But as soon as I modified my world view of what I was making an attempt to achieve, everything I had wished for came to me. So try it on for size and see if it's working for you. Make a lifetime dedication to keeping healthy and watch how much your body will change in the short term too.
Bring some commitment and consistency to the table, in all sides of your life, and things will change radically.
