Testosterone Therapy For Women Helps Reestablish Optimum Hormone Balance

By Joshua Collins

A reduction of testosterone in the body is sometimes known as low T levels. Despite what many people think, it is a problem that concerns both males and females. The body of a woman produces it as well albeit in smaller quantities. Despite of this, such male hormone still plays various important roles among females. It's exactly due to this why testosterone therapy for women is something that many doctors suggest for dealing with an assortment of problems associated with low T levels.

The main reason why low T levels also affect females is aging. As the years pass, a female's body manufactures less and less hormones, which include the one that's known as primarily male. This is unavoidable just like so many other things that can be blamed on aging, and some examples are the blurring of eyesight, appearance of wrinkles and graying of hair.

The glands are the ones that produce hormones, which are chemicals that regulate the functioning of tissues and cells. It is by means of your blood circulation that these hormones travel in order to get to where they are needed. Various processes can result in hormonal imbalance, and aging is something that is commonly blamed for such.

It's not just the process of aging, however, that can be blamed for low T levels in women. In males, testosterone is produced by the testes. On the other hand, the ovaries are the ones that produce the same hormone in a woman's body. That is why hormonal imbalance can also result from a procedure called hysterectomy in which certain or all parts of a female's uterus are surgically removed.

The predominantly male hormone isn't the only one that declines when a woman ages but estrogen, too. Many years ago, scientists thought that the different pesky signs and symptoms of being in the menopausal stage could only be due to estrogen depletion. This is why reestablishing optimum levels of the said female hormone used to be the norm in resolving the various signs and symptoms menopausal women complain about.

Ultimately, health authorities found out that a decrease in the male hormone is also responsible for the many different things that make being menopausal an unfavorable experience. Such is the reason for the development of a form of therapy where the male hormone's level is optimized. Currently, a lot of females are taking advantage of this treatment, not only those that are already in the menopausal stage but those that went through hysterectomy, too.

Although there are many different benefits offered by the said treatment, there are some side effects involved as well. This does not really come as a big surprise because such can also be expected from any medical procedure out there. Some of the most commonly reported side effects include nausea, headaches, indigestion, bloating, leg cramps, breast tenderness, swelling of certain body areas and mood changes.

Taking into consideration the pros and cons is important before a female decides to go though hormonal replacement procedures. If the negatives are outweighed by the positives, then having the treatment is a good idea. Some other solutions, otherwise, should be discussed with a doctor.
